This striking contemporary piece is a masterclass in kiln-formed glass, showcasing a complex, open-weave lattice structure that plays beautifully with light and space. Glass strands have been fused together to create a web of elegant, teardrop-shaped negative spaces, giving the piece an airy, basket-like quality. Blue glass is placed strategically at the intersecting joints of the lattice and in solid segments along the lower ridges, creating a checkered or striped pattern that accentuates the bowl's curves. The bowl functions beautifully as a standalone statement art piece or as a unique fruit bowl for larger, solid items like citrus fruits or apples, which would show through the glass webbing.
Featuring an intricate blues and clear basket-weave design, this piece is a true labour of love. Each glass strand and contrasting blue accent was meticulously arranged by hand before being fired in a kiln to fuse together perfectly. A second firing over a mould gave the bowl its beautifully organic, wavy slumped shape, ensuring that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
Each artefact is securely packaged in a box so that it arrives to you in excellent condition.
Care instructions: please take care when handing. Pointy edges can be sharp. Avoid lifting by glass elements. To clean, wipe with damp cloth towards the centre of the glass, never towards the edges.
