Hand-painted Glass Fairy Riding Kingfisher Art – Woodland Bird Illustration
$139.53
Explore fantasy with this whimsical, magical illustration of a tiny fairy riding on the back of a kingfisher. The fairy is wearing a simple, light-coloured dress and possesses large, intricate, translucent wings resembling those of a dragonfly or cicada. The kingfisher has textured feathers in shades of blue, grey, and white. The artwork is hand-painted onto glass, giving it a unique layered depth. The subjects are set against a stark, solid mustard yellow square background painted on a separate layer or the back of the glass, creating a strong contrast that makes the central illustration pop. The illustration is set in a black vinyl frame.
This isn’t a print or a simple acrylic painting. It is a one-of-a-kind piece crafted using the meticulous, centuries-old techniques of traditional stained glass mastery. The striking golden-yellow light bathing this scene is created using true "silver stain" - the historic material from which the term "stained glass" was actually born.
